    Flight Crew – No Positions Available
    All pilot candidates go through an application process that includes an interview, thorough review of flight qualifications, a background check, an evaluation flight, and a drug and alcohol screening. Upon completion, the company President, Director of Operations and Chief Pilot review the applicants to determine which applicant will best fit the company's standards and culture. Only the applicant that meets the highest standards is considered for employment.
    Taquan Air Flight Crew Qualifications
    • Flight hours as required and regulated under the provisions of FAA Part 135
    • Prior DeHavilland Beaver experience preferred
    • Commercial, Instrument, and Seaplane ratings required
    • Pre-employment drug test and random sampling for the duration of their employment
    • Ability to work extended hours on an established schedule
    • Able to lift and move heavy items (over 50 lbs)
    • Outgoing and cheerful demeanor
    • Self-motivated, positive attitude and professional appearance

    Maintenance Personnel – No Positions Available
    Taquan Air believes safety starts with hiring qualified and knowledgeable maintenance personnel. The hiring process is very comprehensive with all potential applicants receiving thorough and extensive background with reference checks. This is to ensure a good fit prior to employment with the company. Currently, the company employs four maintenance personnel, three of which have Aircraft and Power Plant Licenses. The Director of Maintenance has an A & P License with Inspector's Authorization.
    Taquan Air Maintenance Personnel Qualifications
    • License required and some experience necessary
    • A&P Certified
    • DeHavilland Beaver experience is a plus
    • Sheet metal experience preferred
    • Able to lift and move heavy items (over 50 lbs)

    Freight / Dock – No Positions Available

    Taquan Air Freight Personnel Qualifications
    • Clean driving record and valid Alaska driver's license is required
    • Must be auto insurable (min age 21)

    Dispatch / Flight Coordinator – No Positions Available
    Taquan Air provides services with continuity that is unparalleled. A Dispatcher is jointly responsible with the pilot for the safe operation of a flight.  The industry's safety record has been enhanced and the role of Aircraft Dispatcher is now more important than ever before. The weather in Southeast Alaska is a constant challenge to aviation operations. Therefore, the role of the Flight Coordinator is crucial to overall safety and awareness on all conditions.
    Taquan Air Flight Coordinator Qualifications
    • Prior customer service and flight following experience is preferred
    • Outgoing and cheerful demeanor
    • Self-motivated, positive attitude and professional appearance
    • Effective communication skills, both oral and written
    • Must be organized and detail oriented
    • Able to follow instructions and work well with others
    • Able to handle stressful situations and multi-task efficiently
    • Able to operate switchboard phones, general computer software, and aircraft radio
    • Handle difficult situations professionally, including weather delays, late passengers, complaints, etc.

    Reservations / Counter – No Positions Available
    To continually provide excellent quality service, Taquan Air provides knowledgeable support staff at the ticket counter. Our customer service representatives play a vital support role to dispatch, counter service, and tour coordinator needs. They are expected to assist customers in all facets of operations and understand the role of serving our Taquan customer needs.

    Tour Coordinators – No Positions Available
    Taquan Air maintains onboard sales contracts with all major cruise lines that call in Ketchikan. These relationships hold a high level of accountability to Taquan Air's tour products and passenger experiences. All Taquan's tours are coordinated from the gangway of cruise ships by highly trained personnel. The staff is put in place to insure an exceptional level of quality control is reached for each and every customer. Additionally, the Coordinator assists all guests to and from aircraft, manages financial information, and generally serves the Taquan customer base. Other duties as assigned, included but not limited to, answering phones, questions, taking reservations and ticketing passengers.
    Taquan Air Tour Coordinators Qualifications
    • Prior customer service and tourism experience are preferred
    • Outgoing and cheerful demeanor
    • Self-motivated, positive attitude and professional appearance
    • Effective communication skills, both oral and written
    • Must be organized and detail oriented
    • Able to follow instructions and work well with others

    Naturalist / Guide – No Positions Available
    Taquan guides act as naturalists and present visitors with an intimate view of the forest, plants, and animals that inhabit it. There is a large emphasis on the rainforest, flora, fauna, and wildlife in Southeast Alaska within the Tongass National Forest during training. Guides are trained to use ethical wildlife viewing behavior and insure visitors conduct themselves in the same manner. All visitors are expected to adhere to rules that protect the environment and themselves. All visitors and guides affiliated with Taquan Air are expected to leave tour sites as they were in order to protect and preserve the Tongass for future visitors. Some driving and minimal vehicle maintenance is required.
    Taquan Air Naturalist Guide Qualifications

    • Strong customer service skills
    • Self-motivated, positive attitude and professional appearance
    • Outgoing and cheerful demeanor
    • Humorous attitude with ability to keep large groups of people entertained
    • Effective communication skills, both oral and written
    • Ability to deal with stressful situations immediately
    • Must be flexible and able to adapt to changes in itinerary
    • Prior guiding skills and tourism experience not required, but are preferred
    • Some general vehicle maintenance experience preferred
    • Must be flexible and able to work a variety of shifts, weekends, and holidays
    • Commitment to the duration of the season is required
