|Who We Are
Venture Travel, LLC dba Taquan Air is the successor to Taquan Air Service, Inc. Company president and CEO Brien Salazar, purchased key assets from the former company through Venture Travel, LLC in the spring of 2000. His purchase was based on strategic assets necessary to serve the growing tourism market and a U.S. Forest Service aviation contract. Taquan Air is recognized as one of the most successful floatplane operations in Alaska. The company’s success can be attributed to safe, simple, and profitable operations by flying a standardized fleet and being customer service driven.
Taquan Air’s fleet includes DeHavilland Beaver, DeHavilland Otter and one Cessna Caravan. The commonality of aircraft enables the company to maintain an extensive parts inventory and the proper equipment and tools to support this type of aircraft. Taquan Air is committed to having the finest Beaver fleet in commercial operation while maintaining the highest level of safety in ground and flight operations. The company’s comprehensive maintenance program is staffed with a highly trained and experienced team of professionals working in a state-of-the-art facility. Through this program, the company has completely refurbished all of its aircraft to like-new standards.
During an inspection, a FAA District Flight Standards official described our aircraft as “the nicest fleet of DeHavilland floatplanes he had ever seen”.
Taquan Air’s safety plan and culture start with the president’s commitment, involvement, and dedication of company resources to achieve safety standards above those required for FAA FAR Part 135 Air Carriers. The company has implemented a comprehensive Safety & Health Program, maintains a drug-free workplace, and has increased the level of pilot training and qualifications required for flight crews. It also operates profitably and has strengthened its position each year, while continuing to invest in training and equipment.
